Rebecca Smith originally studied History of Art at Skidmore College, in Saratoga Springs, New York, gaining a BA and specialising in Historical Architecture. After working in the Fine Art world in Chicago, she attended the Christie's Fine Arts Course in London, studying Arts and Crafts Design. After working in the auction world in London, she took time off to raise her family.
Moving out of London sparked her interest in gardens and gardening. Rebecca successfully opened her own garden for the National Garden Scheme for three years from 2006-2008, whilst retraining. She has completed Diploma Courses in both 'Practical Horticulture' at the English Gardening School at the Chelsea Physic Garden and 'Garden Design' at the Garden Design School, at Painshill Park, where she trained under Robin Templar Williams and Moira Farnham.
“I design gardens that range from ultra-modern to traditional; marrying the clients wishes for their garden with the architecture of their house. There is no one formula for creating a successful garden, each one is different, and the desires of the client are of utmost importance when creating a garden.”
