Near Fernhurst, West Sussex

West Sussex: the clients, an artist and her husband and three boys, wanted to extend their terrace which was tucked into the corner of their house. It was in constant shade and as a result was never used. The brief was to extend the terrace and update the planting in rich tones to reflect the colours used in their interior decoration. The resulting plan is a mixture of fresh green foliage highlighted with white flowers contrasting with black or purple blooms from early spring to late winter.

Before: North facing terrace is in shade all year round
During Construction: Terrace is enlarged and planting areas created to soften hard edges
New Terrace is finished and ready for planting
Plants arrive and are set out according to the Planting Plan
